GROETJES, GEERT
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On October 1st, 2009 we (Alice and Geert) started as volunteers of the non government organisation called CRAWL. We have taught English and Mathematics and were both very impressed by the nature of a number of talented children. Unfortunately, due to a lack of money many of these children are not able to continue their studies in to the higher levels of education.
Therefore, we presented a plan to Subhamita and Boby to donate a fixed amount every month as a scholar fund for CRAWL, so that talented kids are able to go to College and/or University. Some children are still at a mainstream Secondary school, but they need extra guidance so they will be prepared to go to college. One of the children is already in college, but requires two jobs to pay for her education.
On both sides, we are working to make this plan more concrete:
1. CRAWL (Subhamita and Boby) has the responsibility to hire and manage a professional supervisor/teacher. He/she will be hired for extra lessons and to guide the students who are talented enough to be honoured with this scholarship.
2. We will ask our family and friends to support us and to participate in this plan.
What we demand from CRAWL, the supervisor and the students:
1. CRAWL has the responsibility to select (or deselect if necessary) the students;
2. the supervisor/teacher will report quarterly on the spending in the past quarter and a budget proposal for the coming quarter;
3. the supervisor/teacher will also report on the original school results from every student when available;
4. each student will send 1 time every two weeks an e-mail to Alice and Geert with his/her progress and experiences in those two weeks;
We need those reports, proposals and e-mails to keep all Dutch participants involved and motivated.
The fixed monthly amount is 7,000 rupees (about 100 euros) starting today (Thursday, October 15th 2009). We are willing to donate this monthly amount for 5 years or as long as our demands are met. If the results are satisfactory, we will try to increase the monthly amount and/or to extend the warranty period.
Expenses which can be taken from the scholar fund are as follow:
- All tuition fees that will be directly paid to the school(s)
- Payments for mandatory school activities
- The wages for the supervisor/trainer
- School uniforms
- Travel fees for educational programs (regular and occasional if mandatory)
- Books and other mandatory school supplies, like library fees, writing material, etc.
- For every student: 4 hours of internet usage a week or more if required for their studies
Over the course of time, situations may occur that will make this list incomplete. On those occasions, we grant full permission to CRAWL and the supervisor/teacher to make payments on items less then 500 rupees. If a payment exceeds 500 rupees and those expenses are not on the list above, we require a written explanation as for the need for these expenses. If one of us is not available by e-mail, the other one is entitled to speak for both.

Bijzonder dat de regering en lokaal bestuur niets ziet in educatie..Dat het moet komen van anderen is wel triest, en veelzeggend.
veel sterkte..en wijsheid
